Hi friends, Lora here. July is one of my favorite months in West Seattle. The days are long, the sunshine sticks around a little later, and there always seems to be a reason to gather with friends and family. It is also a wonderful time to slow down, get your hands in clay, and make something meaningful. Whether you are joining us for an open studio, workshop, or your very first pottery experience, I am so glad you are here.

Explore Clay at Your Own Pace – Open Studio Nights at Potterings $45 - Limited to four reservations per session

Join us on Wednesdays from 6 PM to 8 PM for Open Studio at Potterings! This is your chance to explore, create, and experiment with clay in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Whether you're new to pottery or looking to refine your skills, our open studio time is ideal for practicing techniques or simply having fun with clay.

Open studio time is your time to create a unique piece of pottery. Open studios include expert instructor guidance, all tools, clay, kiln firings and a seperate glazing session (included in the price). 

You gain inspiration, encouragement, and a sense of belonging while building something meaningful with your hands. You can bring an idea, decide on the project with the instructor at the time of the open studio, or choose to make one of our monthly highlighted projects.

We even have Pinterest Boards to help get the creativity started.

Gift giving any time of the year couldn't be easier with a Potterings gift certificate. The certificate is great for either a workshop or open studio and rings in at an affordable $45 to $55. We customize the gift certificate and delivery via email to you or directly to the lucky recipient. 

Skill Builder Tip: Clear Glaze Over Underglaze

Think of clear glaze as a window that lets your underglaze colors shine through. After your underglaze decoration has dried on a bisque-fired piece, apply clear glaze in smooth, even coats. The clear glaze will become transparent in the kiln, bringing out the depth and richness of the colors underneath while adding a glossy, food-safe finish. If the clear glaze is applied too heavily, details can sometimes look blurry, so focus on even coverage rather than thick layers. A good clear glaze can make colors appear brighter and give your designs that finished, polished look that really makes them stand out.
